FIND OUR MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY INSERT in today’s bulletin. Please prayerfully consider how you can share your gifts from God’s abundance and volunteer for one or more of our many ministries that are described therein. Contact persons are listed for each one as well in case you have questions. You may be surprised how little time is required for many of them. Then plan to attend our Stewardship Fair on September 11-12 in Assisi Hall. More details about all these groups will be available at the Fair and there will also be the opportunity to sign up at that time.

“I am convinced that if we can make stewardship part of our faith life we can truly change the world. We can make this a much better place in which to live—not just for us but for everyone. I am convinced of this because I am convinced that it will attack the selfishness that besets all  of us. It turns mine to ours; it turns self to others. It turns us  from just loving ourselves to loving others as Jesus loves them.”
Bishop John J. McGrath, Diocese of Owensboro, KY

BOB’S CLINIC IN OUR TWIN PARISH IN HAITI  provides medical care to our brothers and sisters there—their only source for such care. It is funded by contributions from folks just like you. Now  you have the chance to double your donation. If parishioners can raise $10,000 by October 4, anonymous donors will match that amount. Imagine what good that would do! Make a check out to St. Francis-Haiti Outreach and mail it to St. Francis-Haiti Outreach, P.O. Box 2563, Staunton, 24402-2563 or put it in the collection basket at Mass. Mark clearly that it is for Bob’s Clinic. Thank you so much for your support!

FATHER ROOSEVELT LERICHE, pastor of our twin parish of St. Louis in Haiti, will be visiting in Virginia September 10-23. He will be speaking at all Masses September 18-19 and in Assisi Hall at 10 AM, that Sunday, the. 19th. Please come hear first hand what is happening on LaGonave and how your generosity gives people hope.

YARD SALE: Save those “treasures” you have laying around your house that you’ve been meaning to get rid of sometime. Donate them to our youth who are traveling to Spain for World Youth Day next summer. To raise funds, they are having a gigantic indoor yard sale on Saturday, September 25 from 8 AM until 2 PM in Assisi Hall. They will accept anything that is in good saleable condition except NO clothing, NO large furniture and NO large appliances. Because all our parish storage is stuffed full, they cannot accept early donations but they will be in the hall on Friday, September 24 from 2 PM until 8 PM to accept your things. Be sure to come on back on Saturday and shop for all those great bargains you are sure to find!

WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY RETURNS!!! The fall topic is The Book of Job. We all sometimes feel like Job—or so we think. How bad was his life? What did he do wrong to deserve all his trouble? What were his friends like or were they even friends? What do Jesus and St. Paul have to say about all his trials? Come explore Scripture as you never have before. Prepare for some hard work, real reflection and lively discussion, all adding up to a meaningful spiritual experience. It begins Wednesday, September 29 at 10 AM in the conference room. There’s no need to pre-register.

SIGN UP FOR TABLES OF EIGHT! It’s a wonderful way to  meet some of the great people in our parish family! Eight persons, whether couples, singles or  two friends, are matched as a table to share 4 meals together over the coming months. Each group decides how and when they want to gather. You can sign up an adult, as a family with kids or as young singles. All these forms are in the church vestibule. Please add your names by September 5. Watch for details for a large group gathering on September 19.

THE LEGION  OF MARY invites you to celebrate Mary’s birthday on Saturday, September 4. Join them for the rosary and Tessera prayers after the Communion Service at 10 AM. Refreshments will follow in Assisi Hall.

       Eucharistic Adoration  News

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”               Matthew 6:19-21

PRAY IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD in our Adoration Chapel and store up heavenly treasures. You are always welcome there.

We extend our sympathy to the family of our parishioner William Michael Pandak who died  on August 19. We pray for the comfort of his family and the peaceful repose of his soul.

ATTENTION YOUNG WOMEN FROM 12-18: The Little Sisters of the Poor in Richmond host a Hospitality Club every third Saturday of the month. Young women and girls are invited to come and be a part of the fun enjoying the company of the Sisters and those they serve. If you are in that age group and would like to “do something for Heaven’s Sake”, come join our carpool at 8:30 AM on September 18. Contact becky@stfrancisparish.org or 886-2262 for more information.
