YOUTH YARD SALE

Save those “treasures” you have laying around your house that you’ve been meaning to get rid of sometime. Donate them to our youth who are traveling to Spain for World Youth Day next summer. To raise funds, they are having a gigantic indoor yard sale on Saturday, September 25 from 8 AM until 2 PM in Assisi Hall. They will accept anything that is in good saleable condition except NO clothing, NO large furniture and NO large appliances. Because all our parish storage is stuffed full, they cannot accept early donations but they will be in the hall on Friday, September 24 from 2 PM until 8 PM to accept your things. Be sure to come on back on Saturday and shop for all those great bargains you are sure to find!

NEIGHBORHOOD BIBLE STUDY:

Small Bible Study groups meet in Churchville and Verona on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 6:30 PM to discuss the Gospel of  Luke. They welcome parishioners, whether nearby or farther out, to join them. If you need information about location or other details, please call Deacon Jim at the parish office 886-2262

WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY RETURNS The fall topic is The Book of Job. We all sometimes feel like Job—or so we think. How bad was his life? What did he do wrong to deserve all his trouble? What were his friends like or were they even friends? What do Jesus and St. Paul have to say about all his trials? Come explore Scripture as you never have before. Prepare for some hard work, real reflection and lively discussion, all adding up to a meaningful spiritual experience. It begins Wednesday, September 29 at 10 AM in the conference room. There’s no need to pre-register.

You can contribute early by making your check to “St. Francis-Haiti Outreach” and mailing it to P.O. Box 2563, Staunton, VA  24402-2563 or placing it in the collection basket at church. Join them for the rosary and Tessera prayers after the Communion Service at 10 AM. Refreshments will follow in Assisi Hall.

TABLES FOR EIGHT...
COMING SOON—TABLES FOR 8! It’s our parish opportunity to get to know one another better—lots of great friendships resulted from the past go-rounds! Groups of 8 randomly-chosen folks meet at a time and place of their own choosing four times by next February. It might be at your home, Dutch treat at a restaurant, picnic or tailgating in the park, dinner in Assisi Hall or whatever else your group might decide. The place and food are incidental—getting to  know other St. Francis members is the real goal. You can sign up with your spouse, with a friend or just by yourself. NEW THIS YEAR: You can select the adults only group, the family & childrens group or the young singles group.
Our kick-off gathering of all participants gives you a chance to meet your new table-mates and plan for your next meal together. It will be held in Assisi Hall at 5 PM on Sunday, September 19. Bring a heavy hors d’oeuvre to share—the parish supplies the rest.
Sign-up sheets will be out next weekend. Sign-up by September 5 please! We’re looking forward to seeing all of you on September 19!

STEWARDSHIP
FIND OUR MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY INSERT in today’s bulletin. Please prayerfully consider how you can share your gifts from God’s abundance and volunteer for one or more of our many ministries that are described therein. Contact persons are listed for each one as well in case you have questions. You may be surprised how little time is required for many of them. Then plan to attend our Stewardship Fair on September 11-12 in Assisi Hall. More details about all these groups will be available at the Fair and there will also be the opportunity to sign up at that time.

ST. FRANCIS PLAY

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

The children choirs directed by Daniel Kirkland have just celebrated their first anniversary!

They are welcoming new choristers for this year. God has given everyone a voice. Anyone can learn to sing. Please consider giving time to glorify Our Lord in song.

Boys! The St. Francis Boy Choir is now accepting new voices, ages 10-17 who are open to being challenged and working as a team to sing beautiful sacred music for Mass.
Girls! St. Cecilia Girl Choir is accepting new voices, ages 10-17, who are interested in sharing the joy of music with each other and the parish in its liturgies.
Parents!  Children under 10 are welcome to be enrolled in the St. Gregory Cherubim choir  which will prepare them for their respective choirs later.

To register, call the parish office to leave your name and contact information. The choir director will get back to you.
