HAITI TRIP:
Application are now being taken for the diocesan immersion retreat to Haiti November 29 to December 6. The trip is designed for individuals to be immersed into Haiti by giving them the opportunity to learn about its history, culture, economics, politics and religion and to begin establishing relationships with the people of Haiti. This is not a tourist trip but rather a pilgrimage, a carving out in our lives a holy space and being open to the gifts of Haiti and the transformation of God. Spotlight:
Welcome Fr. Burt Sare!
St. Francis of Assisi parish welcomes Fr. Burt Sare who will be our pastoral administrator while Fr. Jerry recuperates from surgery.
FATHER BURT is currently on sabbatical from the Diocese of Sorsogon in the Phillipines. As you probably heard at Mass, he has been a parochial vicar, a teacher in a seminary and then the rector of that seminary. He comes from a large family including a sister who is a nun. He is seeking permission from his bishop to remain in the United States for an extended period of time. He was due to arrive at St. Francis on Thursday, August 14 and will officially take charge in the following days.
You will enjoy meeting him and he is looking forward to meeting all of us. A time to do that will be announced as soon as definite plans are made.
